Are non-optical technologies in scope of this ‘Scoping Our Planet’ funding call?
Measurement technologies do not have to be optical, but would need to show how they are improving understanding of the climate.
Are non-hardware approaches in scope?
This call is seeking to unlock better measurements for our understanding of the climate. This can be approached through software, modelling, etc. but must be focussed on improving the measurements.
What is acceptable from a point of view of a three-year grant funding a three-and-a-half-year studentship? Would the final 6 months be paid right before the end of the grant?
In this instance, if the PhD cost is the significant part of the project costs, please match the length of the project to the term of the PhD (i.e. 3.5 years). If it is not a significant cost, then we would look to include the balance of this cost in the final month of the project.
