To fulfil this mission, we must ensure those breakthroughs translate into widespread impact – by creating the conditions that ensure discovery doesn't get stuck in a lab, but makes real social and economic impact.

One way we’re doing this is working with Activation Partners – partners whose activity sparks latent ideas, empowers talent, supports new ventures, and provides insights and connectivity across the opportunity spaces we’re exploring – and the new ones we have yet to shape.

Introducing our new Activation Partners

Building on our founding cohort, we’re expanding the specialist support available to our Creators and programme teams.

Our new Activation Partners bring advanced AI, automated biology and translation capabilities directly into our opportunity spaces. Together, they will help researchers test more possibilities, overcome practical bottlenecks and build the routes, from laboratories and testbeds to manufacturers, investors and new ventures, that can turn discoveries into economic and societal impact.

Adaptyv Bio will build one of the UK’s first AI-native biology labs, giving our Creators and UK researchers access to automated, high-throughput protein design, synthesis and testing.
BioInnovation Institute will support our programmes with entrepreneurial training, mentor networks and access to investors, helping promising research secure the expertise and capital needed to commercialise.
Edinburgh Genome Foundry will add AI-enabled capabilities to its automated engineering-biology platform, helping Creators safely programme new functions into living organisms.
Newlab will build a UK translation platform connecting Creators working on technologies with the potential to create new industries with manufacturers, testbeds, industry partners and investors to move promising prototypes towards real-world testing.
Open Athena will build open scientific models, datasets and benchmarks, embedding engineers within Creator teams to apply large-scale compute to their R&D challenges and providing research communities with open source AI capabilities.
