Social Media Policy
Our social media accounts
The Advanced Research and Invention Agency (ARIA) uses social media to share updates about our programmes, funding opportunities, and events — and to engage with the research, innovation, and wider public community.
Our official social media accounts include:
X (formerly Twitter): @ARIA_research
LinkedIn: ARIA on LinkedIn
BlueSky: ARIA on BlueSky
Substack: ARIA on Substack
These channels are managed by ARIA’s Communications and Engagement team.
We use them to:
- Share news about our work, impact, and funded programmes
- Promote opportunities to get involved in our mission
- Engage with the public and research community in an open and constructive way
We do not use social media to:
- Respond to individual funding queries (please contact: clarifications@aria.org.uk)
- Provide personalised advice or technical support
- Engage in party-political debate
Engaging with us online
We welcome comments, questions, and discussions on our channels, and we aim to foster open, respectful, and inclusive conversations.
However, we will moderate or remove posts that:
- Are abusive, threatening, discriminatory, or harassing
- Contain misinformation, spam, or promotion of irrelevant services
- Disclose personal or confidential information
- Are off-topic or significantly disrupt conversations
- Endorse political parties or candidates
We reserve the right to block or report users who repeatedly violate these rules or who post harmful content.
Our online conduct
As a public body, we abide by the Nolan Principles of Public Life including honesty, integrity and objectivity.
Our team:
- Are expected to uphold these values when engaging online
- Do not express personal political opinions on ARIA channels
- Will not comment on live funding decisions or speculative programme details
Responding to messages
We monitor our social media accounts during standard UK business hours. While we aim to read all messages and replies, we are not always able to respond to every one.
If you have a general inquiry or need to get in touch with a member of the ARIA team, please see the Contact Us page.
For all media enquiries, contact: press@aria.org.uk
Accessibility
We are committed to ensuring our social media content is accessible to all users. Where possible, we:
- Use plain language
- Add alt-text to images
- Provide captions for video content
If you encounter accessibility issues with our posts, please let us know. For more on accessibility support see the webpage.
Feedback and complaints
If you wish to make a complaint or raise a concern about how we use social media, please contact us at complaints@aria.org.uk.
