Abstract

Our food and material systems depend on resource-intensive production and fragile supply chains, both of which are increasingly vulnerable to a volatile climate. We have an opportunity to produce a sustainable abundance of food and materials with greater speed, precision and flexibility.

Manufacturing Abundance was one of ARIA's original opportunity spaces. Following an evolution of our research portfolio in August 2026, it now sits within the Abundant Manufacturing opportunity space. The beliefs and observations that defined Manufacturing Abundance still hold, and its remit continues in full within Abundant Manufacturing with respect to both future programmes and seed funding. No active funding was affected by this change.
